Byron Asher

Byron Asher is an adventurous composer and talented saxophonist and clarinetist “working at the intersection of broadly experimental composition and jazz and improvised music.” He’s been compared to Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, and Ornette Coleman, and fronts the experimental ensemble Skrontch Music, the self-styled “free jazz party band” Basher, Flaxan, a chamber quartet, and numerous other projects. He’s toured around the globe, and his work has been supported by a number of prestigious foundations and performed at the Kennedy Center.
