Experience the spirit of Mardi Gras in the back streets with these events happening Mardi Gras morning!
Northside Skull & Bone Gang will start at 5am Mardi Gras morning at 2500 Bayou Road at The Church of "I am That I am," also known as the King and Queen Emporium International.
Mystic Seven Sisters step out at the corner of Barracks & Treme St. at 5am for the 8th annual Carnival morning Blessing Ceremony. Led by Voodoo Queen Kalindah Laveaux, the Mystic Seven Sisters will cleanse and bless the historic Tremé neighborhood and the people starting at 5am. They will set the energy for healing, protection, and abundance with cleansing, drumming and Creole songs.
Mahogany Blue Baby Dolls will be stepping out of The Marsh (1901 Delachaise) and sashaying over to LaSalle Street with the Knockaz Brass Band starting around 9am.
Guardians of the Flame will be holding a coming-out-the-door ceremony and community procession starting around 9am at the Donald Harrison, Sr. Museum (1930 Independence St.).
