Lafayette Square, the second oldest park in the City, was founded in 1788 and was originally called “place publique.” Located in the heart of downtown New Orleans, the park is a welcoming green space for workers, residents and visitors to the City. 

The Square is named after the American Revolutionary War Hero, Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert Du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette.

Upcoming Shows

On October 16-17, The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation held its fifth annual celebration of a match made in heaven: blues and barbeque. The 2010 Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival in Lafayette Square featured top local and national acts like Taj Mahal and the Joe Krown Trio, plus plenty of delicious food and unique visual art.
