Whether pursuing current interests or exploring new ones, students make friends and establish their on-campus community by getting involved. Xavier University of Louisiana, founded by Saint Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, is Catholic and historically Black. The ultimate purpose of the University is to contribute to the promotion of a more just and humane society by preparing its students to assume roles of leadership and service in a global society. This preparation takes place in a diverse learning and teaching environment that incorporates all relevant educational means, including research and community service.

The Black Is Brilliant Summit is a 4-day celebration of Black education, culture, and care. This national gathering brings educators, artists, and leaders from across the country to move through New Orleans with the people who live and organize here. Expect powerful sessions, second lines, and joy. We honor history, embrace the present, and imagine the future our children deserve.
Black Education for New Orleans (BE NOLA) is a Black-led nonprofit committed to supporting Black-governed schools and Black educators in New Orleans. BE NOLA works to build a future where Black children thrive through culture-based education, community partnerships, and collective care. By uplifting local wisdom and leadership, BE NOLA honors the legacy of Black education while shaping bold, brilliant futures rooted in justice and joy.
