7-10pm | The African American Heritage Cultural Center's 10th Anniversary Commemorative Concert is not just a fundraiser, but a unique celebration of African American heritage. It features world-renowned singer Sharon Martin and her Music from New Orleans Band, as well as Ben Hunter, Naydja CoJoe, poet Sunni Patterson, spoken word artist Chuck Perkins, and Medicine Man Keith Rashaan Smith.

These notable entertainers are donating their talents to help the AAHCC, a nonprofit organization, continue its efforts to build the National Slave Ship Museum and River Park (NSSM). Attendees are kindly requested to donate $25 to the cause.

The late Lloyd Lazard, the founder of the AAHCC, is being honored at the event. His vision to memorialize the historical contributions of enslaved Africans brought and sold at the Port of New Orleans was inspired by Public Law 103-433, Title XI, Lower Mississippi Delta Region Initiatives. Lazard relentlessly pursued his vision until he died in 2021, and this event is a testament to his unwavering commitment.
